21st Century Fitness is a new dimension of fitness built on the foundation of Pilates. Its creator, Larry Nachman, was born in 1937, only a few years after Muscle Beach in Venice, California had become the focal point of fitness in the United States.
Having gone through all sorts of fitness routines, Larry found himself back with Pilates and from there formulated his 21st Century Fitness program. The 21st Century Fitness formula is a simple program. Its elements include an edited version of the original 34 "Contrology" exercises developed by Joseph Pilates (now the Pilates mat), additional exercises of my design (fill-ins), hand weights, walking and nutrition.
21st Century Fitness is a hybrid of Eastern and Western methods of exercise, a balanced combination of stretch and weight resistance.
