What you are about to read and experience here may blow your mind.
Some little while ago, I decided that with all the wonders of the Web, my passion for yoga and all things body mind health, that there must be a way to use this growing technological wonder to good ends.
Now this was from someone who, quite a few years ago was heard pronouncing -
"Oh, the Internet is for nerds and techies, not for us on the spiritual path!"
Wow, what ignorance and stupidity uttered forth from these lips. To highlight that ignorance, in my former life as a professional photographer, in the mid '70's, in my London studio, I remember railing against a fashion model who had just returned from India singing the praises of yoga, gurus and all the wondrous benefits thereof.
"Bah! ..Gurus, I scoffed."... and yoga, that's for crazies!"
So welcome, from a deliciously happy crazy, today immersed in Web and Yoga.
Two important lessons arose from those experiences:
Some useful connections:
Lesson 1. - Whatever you vehemently deny, scoff or consider never worth getting involved in - believe me - it has your number on it and in some form or shape it will return to demand an experience that determines the truth of such determined beliefs. ( I know from bittersweet experience ) Lesson 2. - Be open to anything that crosses your path but make sure it sits comfortably with you and delivers its promises before running with it. (The old Sufi saying comes to mind (Trust in God, but first, tie up your camel!)
In these uncertain times the second is a hard one to negotiate - because so much hype, untruth and quick fixes are bandied around for the fast buck and less than convincing results. Discrimination is the essential byword.
Why mention this?
Because having trekked the jungle of opportunities wondering how the Web could work for me and what best kit to site build, I found my instincts a totally reliable asset in discriminating the siren song from the truly sweet melody.
Not the first time that inner voice warned off in the nick of time!
As Grace would have it I landed upon a site that extolled the virtues of how to site build, with a program called SiteBuildIt!. The happenstance site (whose name I have long forgotten but am eternally grateful for!) was built with this program. It immediately struck me that what I read, what I saw and what subsequently was proof and pudding combined made perfect sense and was so simple to execute. I had no problem clicking a link and immersing myself in some hidden treasure.
Easier than an alien learning the rules of cricket
Now what do you mean, anything is easier than that? - Shame on you!
Please understand that before producing this site I had about as much knowledge of how to site build as our alien friend trying to understand the rules of leather on willow! In fact I knew a little about e-mail, sending them and of course working Photoshop (well, I am a photographer). Web sites always seemed mysterious creatures.
But Site Buildit! makes a site build so easy. Even a dummy like me was able to put the blocks together. In the couple of months I have spent getting this site together I have understandably immersed myself in the pond of learning with delight.
Those wonder weavers at SBImake you feel, - confident, assured, totally trusting that the way it is executed is the way it works best and after all the proof is that I can enter my main keywords into a Google Search engine and see listings of my pages in the high ranks of the Holy Grail - and this is only the beginning.
Recently I was invited to participate in a terrific web/terrestial based radio show "News for the Soul" (listen to sound clip from the show and apologies for the poor sound quality during the show - ). This station is a Positive News station that meets the tremendous need of all those who want to get behind the obfuscation of most media who don not believe that good news sells.
Anyway, during the show Nicole Whitney, the show's host, put a search into Google for one of my products that I feature on site and although we were several thousand miles apart at the time, I am positive I heard her fall off her seat as my entry came up at at #2 and #3 respectively. In fact as I write this I get them at #1 and #2!
Out of an estimated 25,000 returns that is not too bad for a site that was barely a few weeks old!
Now that is what I call results!
So why the life story? Well, it is really just to show you that if even a not particularly adept web novice like myself can turn ideas and passions into a very viable organ for good and positive outcomes, as well as creating an ethical, sustainably supported information and business enterprise, what possibilities lie awaiting the qualities, insight, knowledge and wisdom that you, dear reader, have within you.
Let's face it - if I can do it, goodness knows how many creatively brilliant luminaries out there can site build and manifest web sites to connect, communicate, inform, educate, sell goods and services - introduce great new products helping people meet the needs of today in ways that return balance, ethics and a way of being that benefits the whole.
SBI at last gives back the means to level the web's playing field and allows ranking to be contested through rich content rather than deep pockets. Mega corporations such as Exxon are humbled into the stockpile of eco threatening profits and 'David's pebble' - alias SiteBuildIt! (SBI) tolls the final bell for inequality and all Goliaths.
